Hurray! I'm not really a Texan but am defined by the fact that we live here and have for a long time. I'd rather not be embarrassed by the state I live in.

I have always been proud to be a Texan. I am ashamed of our elected officials. I hope we all realize the issue is not partisan. Leaders of both parties exhibit paternalism, not seen in decades. Both parties have done their best to pander to special (small) groups, practice medicine without a license, destroy individual liberty, strangle local education, protect university cronies, and micromanage every part of life. Rick Perry is completely accountable for increasing local taxes, destroying innovation and growth in education; with a cavalier elite "King" like attitude. Rick Perry was elected only due to the extreme fear associated with Bill White. The rainy day fund belongs to the people and should be used. I plan to work hard to defeat every politician in office. Elimination of the Texas Higher Ed Coordinating Board is a priority. No other state has such an expensive, redundant group. Texas has a few "closet" agencies that have increased costs instead of controlled costs. Energy should be regulated. Texas HAD low utility costs. Deregulation increased costs, decreased service, harmed poor and middle class, and enriched members of the "club." Many millions would be immediately available and innovation would lower costs, just by eliminating a few useless agencies. In the face of a budget crisis created by the legislature, the circus of "emergency bills" added to the insanity. I cringe when I hear any mention of Perry for president. I pray no one thinks Perry represents the character of Texas. King Perry is campaigning using taxpayer money.
